Hello all,
It is about 12:30 am in Recklinghausen and Mom's morphine seems to have kicked in again because she just drifted off to sleep.
Wow, has it ever been a tough day for her....
She was very peaceful this morning as we prayed together and she looked through some of the lovely pictures and notes the children at church had sent her over the last year (she so loves those little kiddies!). Then at 9:00 am the nurse gave her a sedative to calm her down before the surgery (though lol honestly I don't know if she even needed it!). She actually landed up falling asleep before they could even come and get her! When they did come she woke up and they let me walk along as they wheeled her to the operating room door where I said goodbye.
I headed out to the garden they have here and sat on a bench to pray and let people know she had gone in for surgery. After a while I headed back up to our room. The surgery was scheduled to take 1.5 hours and the time in recuperation was supposed to be 1hr. When she was an hour later then scheduled I began to get really concerned and prayed more! I found out that the reason she was delayed longer was due to her pain being so intense post surgery, that they couldn't get it under control. When they finally brought her back to our room she was gripping the sheets in pain and began crying.....
So to make a long story short after many, many ice packs, additional attempts with morphine, and two fans, we were able to cool her down and have seemed to have gotten her pain under better control.
Two major prayer requests at this point would be:
1) Please pray they can continue to control the pain levels so she wouldn't have to experience that kind of pain again.
2) That I would be able to keep Mom cool in this heat. The hospital has no air conditioning (as is common in Germany) and we hit +33 today! The humidity is intense and it's making Mom's situation even more uncomfortable. Join me in praising the Lord that it cooled off for the evening but please beg Him for aid with the high temperatures of tomorrow.
Thank you once again for your prayers, kind wishes and support they mean so much!!
