Hello again!
Here is part 2 for our first few days :)
You are looking at one of the first pluses of the surgery! Mom is now able to sit up right for about 1 hour and 20 minutes straight!!! Yes!!! I'm serious! She eats meals, walks with her walker, and visits with friends! Such a blessing to have already The wheelchair they are lending us is only used for longer walking periods or if she has been walking too much.
With the sweet comes the bitter too.... Herr (Mr.) Wiegmann, Mom's Physiotherapist is working to try to alleviate the nerve pain down Mom's leg. It's not always a very fun process but after her last treatment with him the pain went down by 70% in her hip and leg!!! Though unfortunately on Friday Herr Muller's exercise regime in the gym brought it all back. So as you can tell, by Mom's face, it's a back and forth each day between pain and progress, massages and physio to aid in a favorable recovery. It's been hard for me to see the different therapist and staff put her through pain. I feel like I have been striving for years to keep her in as little pain as possible and now to stand back is hard.... Though I remind myself if anyone can help her it's them and that why we are here So I'm here to be the sideline cheerleader who supplies German snacks, fun movies and prayer :)
This is an epic perk at Medicos for the ONZ patients, we get our own lounge!! It's a great escape from the hubbub of people at the rehab, which is such a busy and bustling place. I was so happy that they have couches!! It's great to have somewhere to lie Mom down when we have bigger breaks between appointments. On Friday we figured out how to use the coffee maker!! It makes all the same things Burham made......just not as good...miss that guy!
Our occupational therapist named Sarah is amazing! A bubbling, cheerful young woman who's very positive and understanding. She has helped moved Mom from the wheelchair to the walker and is now teaching her how to walk in an upright and straight position for the first time in Mom's life. As you can see it's going to take awhile for her to get used to that. Mom says it feel like when she walks in what would be a straight, upright position for everyone else, it feels like she's walking with a severe tilt to one side. So it'll take lots of practice to help her to remember and to feel comfortable holding her self in her new normal position.
Well that's all for today! Hope you have a lovely day, never forget we have a wonderful, all powerful God! Don't put Him in a box and limit His power because you have limited human abilities. Dream big, pray expectantly and wait restfully in His mighty hand as He moves Gross Gott (God Bless)!
