Hello!
Wow thank you all for lifting us up once again to our Heavenly Father! Your Facebook comments, emails and texts have been passed on to Mom and have been such a blessing. Thank you for helping me keep her encouraged! The weather here in Recklinghausen took , a cool dip and we have been rejoicing and enjoying the cool air through out open window Though that isn't the only thing that has taken a turn; Mom's pain has been more under control today, praise the Lord! The anesthesiologist stopped by our room to check up on her and prescribed a higher level of medication; I am hoping when that takes effect she will be even more comfortable.
This morning was hard for Mom as they need to get her up and moving a little. After that they wheeled her off for an x-ray to be sure the implant hadn't migrated in her spine. Also after lunch the physiotherapist taught her how to get in and out of bed and got her to walk a little ways down the hall outside our room. It was so awesome to see her up and walking around!! What a blessing that nothing was damaged in surgery and she is still able to sit, stand, and walk!!
Doctor Bierstedt, who preformed mom's surgery discovered a hole in her peritoneum (which is the "the smooth transparent membrane that lines the cavity of the abdomen and encloses the abdominal and pelvic organs"). I had to get some help explaining that from the dictionary - lol! The doctor had to make the original 2" incision larger, to be 6" long. He then went through the abdominal muscles to sew that hole up (which was caused by preexisting scar tissue). It was basically two surgeries in one, abdominal and spinal, so that is why Mom is having a harder time getting back on her feet. Please keep her in your prayers as it has been discouraging seeing the other patients whom had similar surgeries walking about with much ease and even moving onto stairs. She will actually be tackling the stairs tomorrow upon the physiotherapists request....yikes!!
It has been a blessing to have had some really great nurses on the staff who have been very kind and helpful! Some have translated, others have had encouraging words and a pat on the shoulder to reassure Mom all was going to be ok. So blessed!
Our day has been peppered with funny moments as well! One of the best would have been my lunch, which I normally would be allowed to choose but I was gone with Mom when the orders where taken for the next few days of meals. So my lunch arrived with the title "Seelachsfilet" which we guessed might be salmon....we were wrong its shark!!! So yes here in Recklinghausen, Germany with Mom all stitched up and consuming only liquids (at the time) I ate shark! My verdict on Seelachsfilet is still out. I'd like to try it out of a hospital type setting and see what the difference is; but hey my tummy was full and that what counts! Very happy for the hospitality of hospital in letting me stay with Mom :)
Well the sun is setting and the comfortably warm breeze is blowing about the garden I'm working in while Mom FaceTime's Dad for a bit.
Thank you again; may God bless!
